Includes subject files concerning teaching at the University of Virginia Law School, 1927-1970; the establishment of the School of Military Government in Charlottesville during World War II and teaching at the National War College and other Defense Department colleges, 1946-1969; the Institute of Public Affairs at the University of Virginia, 1950-1952; trips to China, Germany and Egypt; work in professional organizations such as the American Bar Association, the Association of American Law Schools, the American Law Institute and the American Society of International Law of which he was president in 1962-1963; events at the University during his years of teaching, especially concerning the honor system; case materials from his occasional law practice, 1947-1977; his work at the International Court of Justice, 1970-1979; and advisory work for such organizations as the Virginia quarterly review and the Virginia Episcopal School, of which he was a graduate.
